Lovelock, Nevada 1947

A traveling salesman (played by Blanc La Rocque) finds himself intrigued by a woman (Elva La Treque) who he keeps popping up at luncheonettes and gas stations along his sales route on the interstate.

When he innocently approaches her he finds himself drawn into her scheme to kill the loan sharks she claims killed her husband. As time goes on we learn the loan sharks are actually trying to kill her over money she owes them. Money that she borrowed to pay a thug to kill her husband.

Peter Vogel’s cinematography of the American desert is pure poetry.
