A Day at the Races 1952

A has-been jockey stumbles on a plot to rob the owner of the likely winner of the Preakness.

Dan Andrews plays Andres, a nearly washed up Jockey who stumbles onto a plan to rob the owner of the likely winner of the Preakness. Elva La Treque and Blanc La Rocque play the Hollingsworths, the well to do owners of Molly, their prized race horse. Andres used to ride Molly but they fired him thinking they needed a younger jockey to win the coveted triple crown. When Andres tells the Hollingsworths of a plot by trainer Tom Flannagan to rob them they dismiss him, certain it is sour grapes.

Their lack of faith in their jockey’s loyalty leaves Mr. Hollingsworth dead and Mrs. Hollingsworth destitute. Carol Gray adds much needed comic relief to this high tension drama as the lovable bookmaker.
