Jesus the Man, Jesus the Myth, Jesus the Miracle 1946

A new musical of the life and times of Jesus Christ.
Before Jesus Christ was a Superstar there was Jesus the Man, Jesus the Myth, Jesus the Musical. Elva La Treque plays Mary Magdalene giving us a rare chance to hear her hauntingly beautiful singing voice. Unfortunately Blanc La Rocque was unavailable for the role of Jesus, as the Serbian singing sensation was on tour at the time of filming. The role of Jesus is masterfully handled by Broadway superstar of the 40’s and 50’s Christopher Pecardo but the chemistry between the two is just not there.
The screenplay by Paul Peters which is true to the King James version is at odds with the editing of known Atheist Richard Simmons.Yes the film went on to win 8 Oscars including the only one La Treque ever received and the music by Hammerstein and Hart still remains beloved by cabaret singers everywhere.
Despite all of this La Treque refused to be involved in the sequel tentatively titled “The Second Coming” and was put on probation from Mitsumount for a year as a result.
