The Bigger Gun 1947

Detective Nicky Holoquist tries to solve the murder of his best friend’s wife.
The Bigger Gun opens with Detective Nick Holoquist being woken by a ringing phone. Seemingly shocked out of sound sleep he tells the anonymous caller “I’ll be right there”, jumps out of bed, and starts dressing.

Cut to him entering an apartment swarming with cops. He makes his way to a man sitting in a chair with his head in his hands and they embrace. We learn the man is Holoquist’s best friend since childhood, John Turner. We also learn Turner’s wife Bea has been found dead. Nick vows to do everything in his power to find the killer.
As the story unfolds we learn that John’s wife has faked her death to get away from the abuse she has been enduring for years. Danger and betrayal play out as Nick helps put his friend away only to learn that Bea Turner has been lying the whole time.
