The Head Turner 1955

The thrilling new cliffhanger of nightclub singer’s struggles to get out from under the club owners hold on her contract and her act.
Mitsumount appears to be playing a cruel trick on La Treque by tapping her to star in this film. Her character is a successful nightclub singer who cannot get out of her contract with the club owner who clearly has ties to organized crime.
All Sylvia La Roche (La Treque) ever wanted was to sing. When she was a 12 year old child a local club owner heard her in a church choir and enticed her to come sing in his club. The deal was good in her youth but now she wants more. She is restless and no longer satisfied but the club owner will not release her. The negotiations get ugly when she threatened to expose the club owner for using child labor.
La Treque shows the tenacity and cunning she herself had in her negotiations with the studio. Unfortunately while La Roche succeeded La Treque did not. The actress continued to be under the studio’s thumb until 1956 when she was considered too old and cast aside.
