"Intentional Walk", 2020
Healthcare has been a sticking point in this country for many years now. Efforts to create a national affordable healthcare system have fallen into the abyss between political parties time and time again. In the meantime health care costs have risen faster than the median annual income. Annual health care cost of $10,739 per person in 2017 versus just $147 per person in 1960. The reliance on private companies, practices, and hospitals keeps the prices high. US hospital prices are 60% higher than those in Europe. Before the pandemic it was reported that 10% of the population did not have any healthcare and half of Americans report that they are underinsured. Those numbers can only have gone up in the recent wave of job loss.
"Intentional Walk" is made from aluminum crutches and wooden baseball bats. It measures 57” high x 8” wide x 2” deep. In baseball an intentional walk is when the defensive team chooses to walk a batter, putting him on first base instead of letting him try to hit.
