“Force Out” 2023

The financial crisis of 2007–08, also called subprime mortgage crisis, threatened to destroy the international financial system, and precipitated the Great Recession (2007–09). Although the exact causes of the financial crisis are a matter of dispute among economists, there is general agreement  that subprime mortgages played a large role. These loans increased from about 2.5 percent to nearly 15 percent per year from the late 1990s to 2004–07. Increasingly risky home loan practices created a rush on home buying causing housing prices to nearly double between 2000 and 2006 and leading to millions to finance homes they could not afford assuming the prices would continue to escalate. From September 2008 to September 2012, there were approximately 4 million completed foreclosures in the U.S.

A Force Out in Baseball is when a runner has to leave their base and is tagged out or called out at a base, due to the hitter putting the ball in play. “Force Out” is made from a rubber home plate, paint, and keys to locks that no longer exist.
